Pre-school Choices in Northern Cebu

Saturday, April 17, 2010

I’m still undecided on where to enroll my daughter for school year 2010-2011. Her Dad wants her to stay at SRCDS in Yati, Liloan until she graduates from pre-school. My daughter wants to stay in the same school too but its a bit far from the place where we will be moving.

I am more inclined to enroll her at The French Maternelle Academy since it’s nearer to Jagobiao. I also have a vested interest in the school since the parents and caregivers get to learn French for free together with the student. My hesitation is that the school patterned their curriculum after France and doesn’t offer Religion. I’d like my daughter to be more grounded in her values at an early age.

My soon to be neighbor at Deca mentioned a new pre-school named Special Gems. The tuition already includes snacks. I still have to visit the school though.

If I could afford it then she would go to Children’s Paradise in Canduman. I attended one of  the open-houses when my daughter was barely three and was quite impressed. They use the Montessori Method of  Teaching which is also my favorite, next to The Waldorf Method that is.

Here’s a list of some schools in Northern Cebu.

1. Dominican School

Pitogo, Consolacion - 5643978

2. Forum for Literacy

Consolacion, Cebu 3466585

4. Maternelle Academy -

Canduman, Mandaue City - 3442443

5. Sacred Heart School - Jesuits

Canduman, Mandaue City

6. San Roque Child Devt. School -  Montessori

Yati, Liloan, Cebu -  5642992

7. Special Gems

Maguikay, Mandaue - 4206165

8. Tender Minds - Waldorf Method

Pagutlan, Yati, Liloan,Cebu - 4246730

9. Our Lady of Joy

Hi Momi! Nice to meet you here and thanks for your feedback. I haven't visited Little Angels but my friend's kids go there. She likes the school too and wanted me to inquire but it's quite inaccessible for me. Btw, how old is your child and where will you enroll her or him?
Which street are you in? I met 2 other neighbors in someone else's blog. =)

Hi moms! Yes, really same sentiments. The best school I can only suggest is Maria Montessori Int’l. School in San Jose Talamban. My son went their last year when he was Nursery 2. The tuition fee is much lesser than Children’s Paradise. I also tried that Little Angels Montessori for his summer class but i was discouraged by the teacher handling my son, for she was yelling. I don’t also like their environment. Sad to say we left talamban so I had to transfer my son to nearby school w/c is SRCDS Montessori. I was not so impressed too. By d way, i know your daughter she’s Zoren right?

I was able to visit SRCDS Montessori and Inchland Academy. I was impressed by Inchland teaching method (School of Tomorrow) very nice ideal for non-secta but not so impressed by schools facility plus considering the distance. SRCDS has good facilities plus very accessible to our place. I will soon visit Special Gems.

Don’t go to Little Angels Montessori in Banilad. It’s not a real Montessori school and the owners just want to make money. I know this because I went there when I was in high school. My nephew goes to SRCDS in Liloan but I find their pace too slow. Anybody here tried Tender Minds Learning Center? I read that it’s a Waldorf method school. Any feedbacks? thanks

does anybody knows if ROYAL OAKS INT’L SCHOOL is good? i tried to inquire and was surprised the tuition is quiet low than expected since its an internation school..thank you

Hi Cecille! Thank you for dropping by. I think Maternelle is around P25k to 27K per annum. Special Gems might have closed or the school must have transferred to another location.
